Geotechnical & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (GEC) was selected as the consulting firm for the development of this former school in Macon, Georgia. The site is the former 37,000-square-foot Pearl Stephens School. GEC was the consultant on the renovation and demolition of the school. GEC performed all environmental assessments and Phase I/II components under the Georgia Department of Community Affairs Guidelines. Asbestos, lead base paint, radon, lead in drinking water, noise, wetlands, flood plains, and many other issues were addressed during the studies. GEC provided the demolition oversight and environmental monitoring during the asbestos abatement phases of the project and provided clearance monitoring for asbestos and mold. In addition, GEC performed all construction services testing for the project.
